How to create a video

Glow accepts videos in MP4 format. You can use Google NotebookLM to generate a video overview from your source documents, or record your own video using your preferred tools.

🛠

Helpful AI tools for videos:

  • Google NotebookLM — generate a video overview directly from your source documents
  • Pair Chat or Gemini — draft and refine your narration script
  • Microsoft Clipchamp (M365) — record and edit screen-based walkthroughs

Option A — Google NotebookLM

NotebookLM can generate a video overview from your source documents — a short, narrated presentation that summarises the key insights.

  1. 1

    Open NotebookLM

Go to notebooklm.google.com and sign in with your Google iCON account.
  2. 2

    Create a notebook

Click 'New Notebook' and name it after your topic (e.g. 'Digital Gov Explainer').
  3. 3

    Upload your sources

Add your source documents (PDF, Google Docs, copied text). Stick to materials you have the right to use — your own documents, official publications, or content shared for this purpose.
  4. 4

    Generate the Video Overview

Click 'Video Overview' in the Studio panel on the right. Before hitting generate, click 'Customise' to shape the tone, focus, and length. Here's a prompt you can paste straight in:

Goal: Generate a concise, engaging Video Overview that presents the key insights and actionable takeaways from the notebook's sources.

Target Audience: Educators and Corporate Staff with limited time and attention spans (busy professionals).

    Video Length: 3–5 minutes maximum.

    Key Customization Directives
Format: Keep the presentation clear and focused. Cover only the most important points — prioritize actionable insights over exhaustive detail. Avoid padding or repetition.

    Narration and Tone:
Use a clear, professional, and accessible tone. Avoid jargon and explain concepts in plain language.
Speak at a measured pace so non-native English speakers can follow comfortably.
Structure the content with a brief introduction, 3–5 key points, and a clear closing takeaway.

    Content Focus:
Highlight practical insights the audience can apply immediately.
Where relevant, reference specific examples, data points, or frameworks from the source material.
Keep on-screen text minimal — use visuals to support the narration, not repeat it verbatim.
  5. 5

    Review the video

Watch through the generated video before downloading. AI-generated content can occasionally miss nuance — give it a quick review and regenerate if anything needs adjusting.
  6. 6

    Download the video

Download the MP4 and save it to your computer.

Option B — Record Your Own Video

If you prefer to present in your own voice, here are the most common approaches.

  • Prepare a script using Pair Chat, Gemini or NotebookLM as a drafting aid.
  • Record a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint (Record → Export to Video) or Google Slides with screen recording.
  • Record a screen walkthrough using Microsoft Clipchamp (M365) — great for demos or tutorials.
  • Record a talking-head clip using your device camera or webcam. Ensure good lighting and clear audio.
  • Export your recording as MP4.
  • Loop in your team for a final check before you send it to Glow.
